5 Recent Obscure Songs You May Have Missed

So many good songs have come out recently. Jay Z has released his powerhouse album, kicking off the tracks with ‘Holy Grail’. Katy Perry and Lady Gaga have smashed back onto the music scene with two fantastic tracks that prove why they are some of the hottest stars around right now. And then Little Mix brought out ‘Wings’ in the Korean language.

Yeah… that happened. Well, I thought I would take a little rummage through the latest tracks and try to dig out the songs that might have slipped out of your radar. Some of them might become new favourites of yours, especially if Katy Perry’s new one gets overplayed this week (my strong prediction).

5 – THE OTHER TRIBE – MY GIRL

I really liked this band’s last tune ‘Skirts’. It was everything the summer needed: a fun, catchy tune that you can imagine listening to when chilling at a hot festival. To me, it screamed Glastonbury. Sadly, there wasn’t really any weather to back it up. So attempt 2 and it’s just as good. The Other Tribe have a style that’s pretty much unlike any other band out there. You can either party to this song or simply chill to it. It takes talent to meet both of those criteria. Credit where it’s due, Other Tribe!

4 – CLEAN BANDITS – DUST CLEARS

I really like this kind of song. It has got that club beat that regular readers will know I love yet it injects some fresh style to it with some violin backing track. The vocals are unusual. The male voice is pretty generic, if a little odd. Then the female voice comes in, sounding like an Irish folk singer. It hasa very folkish vibe. If the Corrs got into the Ecstasy scene…

3 – MAUSI – MOVE

Yes! This is a fantastic tune. I love it so much. It is pretty simple, yet it has the beat that cuts right to the adrenaline and makes you just want to go out clubbing, getting your hands on as much Jagerbombs as you can seek out. It’s a ‘Whip your hair back and forth’ kind of tune. Some of you might crave a little more from your music, but for me, it’s simple euphoria and I can’t find anything wrong with that.

2 – CHLOE HOWL – NO STRINGS

Here’s something a little less clubby. Chloe Howl sounds a lot like your typical Eliza Doolittle or Kate Nash. A sweet, simple vibe that you can just hang out and listen to. I think Howl is going to suffer in the charts, because she sounds a bit like newcomers, Ms Mr, but without that kick that makes Ms Mr so exciting. Still, this song deserves a listen and your respect. It could be one of my new favourites.

1 – SOPHIA GRACE – GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN

Then there’s this… I am so sorry.
